Research
My research centers around the following domains:
Adjustment to Trauma, Injury, and Illness
- Understanding the experiences of Civilians and Veterans with a history of traumatic injuries, disabilities, and chronic health conditions
- Developing intervention approaches for supporting individuals and their families for rehabilitation and adjustment to stress and injuries (such as PTSD, TBI, and burns)
- Working with large, longitudinal datasets to answer questions related to long-term health outcomes and mental health complexities
Psychotherapeutic Processes and Mechanisms
- Investigating the neurophysiological correlates, active factors, or mechanisms of art therapy interventions that facilitate change
- Exploring secondary data such as national databases to examine pathways and trajectories of outcome variables to inform prevention and treatment strategies
Art Therapy with Diverse Populations
- Examining clinical and cultural applications of art therapy using receptive and expressive art engagement methods, specific use of art media and approaches in varied settings and populations
I am keen on employing novel data visualization techniques to guide art therapy research. My work centers on providing stakeholders with tools and strategies to understand research and promote wellness-outcomes in healthcare and related disciplines.
